From my perspective growing up in Britain in comparison to growing up in Indonesia is significantly different. Every child born in Britain including those who have migrated have the opportunity to have free education so we’re more aware and advanced than those growing up in Indonesia .We are aware of the precautions of keeping a healthy body . Part of our science curriculum is to know what affect us on a long term scale that we may not be able to visualise E.G I’m aware that smoking leads to lung cancer , air pollution can lead to respiratory diseases and excessive amounts of  alcohol results to liver problems. On cigarette packaging in the UK it’s states that smoking kills aswell as some horrific pictures of how your lungs develop after smoking. In comparison to this Indonesia’s advertisement for smoking , it’s the complete opposite they aren’t educated on how smoking can more or less kill you, children smoking is gradually being normalised in their society . It breaks my heart to see children as young as the age of 2 smoking and not having a clue on how it can affect them for life . The government need to stop advertising smoking and create a law in which children should be prohibited to smoke until they’re at a mature age to have that decision.

Java the most popular island on earth is being considered as grotesque. The documentary goes to the island of Java and introduces a child who enjoys playing football and smoking cigarettes. The boy is asked how many cigarettes he smokes a day and he responded with 2. He is 6 and his mother mentions that he has been smoking since the age of 2 , he used to smoke a pack a day but as he’s going to school he has one or two.The cigarettes that the boy smokes has 3 times more tar yield than the strongest cigarettes in Britain . There’s no minimum age for buying cigarettes and no education system is implicated to educate individuals about how unhealthy they are . Cigarette advertising is everywhere in Indonesia, it’s the world fastest growing cigarette market , there’re 90 million smokers and is continue to grow .

Men like Mr Fuad are trying to make a difference within Indonesia, he was an ex TV star comedian and an ex smoker and has made it his mission to stop children becoming hooked. He provides therapy for children to help them with smoking. One of the reasons why some children have even started smoking is due to ads such as Djarum Super Cigarettes/ Geppetto Productions as it is viewed upon as “cool”. Tons amount of money is spent on advisertivement for cigarettes .A tobacco industry insider confirms that Big cigarettes companies target young adult smokers.

Towards the east children don’t only produce tobacco but intake it. The village farm produce cigarettes for the The Nation. Green tobacco contains toxic gasses and could potentially risk you from having nicotine poisoning ,these nicotine fields usually consist of young children who are working throughout the day . Only the best leaves get sent to the British/American tobacco companies and the rest are left for Indonesia.

Mr Fuad went to went to go see the 6 year old smoker that I spoke about previously to try and use his therapeutic skills to help him , the child didn’t seem to respond like most kids, usually children would have an ill feeling but after his therapy he proceeded to take another cigarette Mr Fuad mentioned his heart fills with sorrow and for him to change he should wait till he’s truly ready to change  , his journey didn’t go down the drain as others saw him and used him as an opportunity to be healed.
