The Evil Genius is a documentary series on America's most Diabolical Bank Heist on 28th August 2005.
       

The Evil Genius is one of those documentaries that will have you confused and intrigued to find out the causes of the deaths and how it occurred. There're 3 conspiracy theories that are claimed during the documentary which are:
1: Brian Wells committed the robbery himself,he created the collared bomb as well as the cane disguised as a gun and was his scheme all along.Yet why would Mr Wells try to kill himself was he distressed ? Why would he rob a bank just to kill himself? 
2: Mr Wells was abducted by the master mind behind this and was given 20 minutes to complete his 'scavenger hunt' otherwise it would result into his death,nevertheless the scavenger hunt route wouldn't have let Mr Wells leave as an alive man.
3:Mr Wells and Robert (his acquaintance at work)planned to rob the bank but it didn't go to plan,Robert ended up committing suicide due to the guilt  .There's also the questioning of who killed James Roden and why his body was wrapped in a freezer so many days.

Do the cases have any correlation?

As the documentary continues we go on to find the 2 individuals that are the main sources behind the heist.Looking into Miss Marjiorie Diehil - Armstrong's (Merge) background you begin to find that growing up she was an extremely spoilt child, those growing up around her found her quite bizarre.At a young age she had lost her mother, her father was always at work he compensated for her attention/love by spoiling her . As Merge emerged to her youthful years she was someone who had a charismatic character,she could practically make men do anything for her.Marjiorie was intelligent ,she had various degree's and was always getting the highest grades in school.However she was also diagnosed with multiple disorders such as bipolar and multiple personality disorders.Atleast 5 men that she’d encountered/been in relationships with had ended up being dead.Bill Rothstien ,the other main master mind ,growing up he was always faced with rejection and would always leave situations incomplete.Bill had never been with anybody other than Merge and they had an abnormal relationship.They both liked the idea of outsmarting the hierachy.For example whilst creating the collared bomb unnessary equipment was emplaced to confuse the detectives.

           

Furthermore we see the feud between Merge and Bill all emerge including other participants involved in the murder of Mr Wells and the 'suicide"(however you would like to perceive it).Whilst Merge was is in prison the words that we're favoured by her and liked to repeat several times were 'I'm a smart women,I have 6 degree's,I have money why would I rob a bank?’ We begin to find out Merge wasn't actually the cause of Mr Wells’ death but was actually Bill dispite cooperating with the police.As the years go by we see him isolating himself, losing weight and felt discomfort when the case was brought to attention.There's also a conspiracy of weather the cause of Bill's death was as Merge announced ‘guilt will eat him up '. The guilt of killing James Roden had made Bill decide the letthe cancer be his death.

From my perspective Merge's up bringing had a big role on how she has developed her relationships with males in the future.From a young age she had been viewed upon as weird by her peers .As a child her father didn't give her the attention she deserve and used money as a way to give her attention.Her own father when interviewed mentioned ‘ She never knew love'.The whole heist had began due to Merge being envious of what she had claimed her inheritance money being given to charity and the church from her father.Her resolution for this was to rob the bank that had confiscated her money as well as getting her father murdered.Her loosing her mother and her father not giving her attention is the cause of her not being able to care for other and when she isn't given what she want she results to murder.Although I don't condone murder in any shape or form I believe her father dismissing her mental illnesses had damaged her mindset and created this 'evil genius' as she used her charming character to mulipulate others and uses strategic methods to gain the power of 'out smarting others ‘E.G. When murdering her boyfriend before James she was not persecuted and walked a free women .In terms of Bill, he and Merges relationship was toxic they related to each other from a rejection aspect .Merge used her mulipulating character to brainwash him into connecting with her in feeling rejected by society.
